According to series director Hiroyuki Kakudou, Digimon were made to be somewhat like a "part of their human partner's soul . . something like a twin". When observing the interactions between Takeru and his Digimon, this explanation is quite evident: Patamon appears to be a child-like, innocent being with an easy-going and friendly demeanor, much like Takeru. However, the pair's relationship has had its flaws due to certain misunderstandings made on Takeru's behalf. Hiroyuki has also explained that "the Digimon have something of them that symbolize what their partners lack". In Takeru and Patamon's case, this could be seen in Takeru's (season 1) naive misinterpretations and disagreements to certain important dialogues and events. While Patamon was usually understanding and accepting of different situations, Takeru held certain insecurities which lead to a number of distorted judgements, causing relatively serious arguments and separation between the two.

Despite all this, while Takeru didn't always agree or get along with Patamon in the first Adventure Series, there proved to be no problems between the pair in Adventure 02. Takeru had matured from many of the naivety flaws he had once possessed and had grown to appreciate Patamon more than ever.

Level: Mega
Attacks: Strike of the Seven Stars, Hallowed Knuckle

Seraphimon's first and only appearance was during the Zero Two movie The Golden Digimentals. When the others were on the brink of defeat, Takeru and Hikari showed up with Angemon and Angewomon, who warp-digivolved into their Mega forms. Seraphimon, one of the strongest Celestial Digimon and keeper of one of the Golden Digi-Eggs, helped release the eggs and devolved back into Patamon. The release of the eggs helped in the final destruction of Kerpymon; Seraphimon never made a reappearance in the season or any of the movies.
